I love making crafts, but sometimes before I know it I’ve spent a small fortune to make one of my ideas come to fruition. That’s why I am so excited to share this adorable Halloween decoration I created. I bet you already have every supply you’ll need somewhere in your home. In fact the main supply is white 13 gallon kitchen trash bags!
In our home we always have Hefty Ultra Strong Drawstring Trash Bags on hand because I love their exceptional performance and low price. Heck, I’d even compare their strength to John Cena! Plus did you know they are now cheaper than Glad?! If you want to save money then definitely pick up some Hefty Ultra Strong Drawstring Trash Bags the next time you’re at the store. Have you ever heard the saying “every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings”? Well every time someone saves money by purchasing Hefty trash bags John Cena’s pecs bounce! So as the cashier rings them up just think of this commercial… it’s sure to bring a smile to your face and maybe a rosy tinge to your cheeks, hehe.
Now what were we talking about? Oh yaaaaa…. the craft project!
Let’s talk supplies. Most important is the white kitchen trash bags. As I mentioned we love Hefty Ultra Strong Drawstring Trash Bags and most recently I picked up the Crisp Orchard Apple scent. While working on this particular project it seemed like a perfect fall scent. They are also available in Clean Burst, Citrus Twist, Lavender & Sweet Vanilla, White Pine Breeze, Tropical Paradise, Pomegranate Mist, and Scent Free. You will also need two wire hangers, black card stock, fishing line, pliers, rotary blade, cutting mat, scissors, and glue stick.
To get started begin by using the pliers to take apart the wire hangers. Next twist the two hangers together to form a ghost shape.
Using the fishing line tie two strands across the top half of the ghost. Cut four matching eyes and two matching mouths out of the black card stock. Glue these pieces together while sandwiching the fishing line between them.
Next cut the white kitchen trash bags into small strips. The photos below will show you the fastest way I found to cut each bag into as many strips as possible. My entire ghost needed roughly five kitchen trash bags to complete.
Once all of your strips are cut and separated – those lil buggers like to stick together – it is time to start looping them onto the wire hangers. Repeat, repeat, repeat until the entire ghost is covered.
Once done I added a loop of orange twine to the top of my ghost so he would be easier to display.
How can you not smile when looking at this adorable ghost? Plus knowing that he cost practically nothing to creates makes him even cuter, don’t ya think? I love saving money.
